FASHION: Rock in Coloured Mascara

Colored mascara is regaining popularity. Blue mascara has been seen at Stella McCartney’s Fall/Winter 2012 fashion show and other colors are emerging in some of this year’s beauty collections like this Beth Ditto for MAC makeup collection. Pulling off colored mascara can be challenging but it is possible.

Choose Colour to accentuate the eyes
Choose mascara according to your eye color. This will open up the eyes and accentuate them. Those who have brown or hazel eyes are usually adviced to opt for blue or purple mascara. Blue mascara is recommended for blue eyes and green mascara for green eyes.

Choose good product
Not many trusted brands produce colored mascaras although quite a few of luxe brands have had them in past collections like Louis Vuitton and Estee Lauder for example. MAC releases some colored mascaras sometimes. There are purple, blue, and burgundy colors in one of their latest collaboration collections by singer Beth Ditto. Choosing safe quality product will also make it easier to pull off the look without clumps and spider lashes.

How to wear it
Colored mascara is best worn on its own as it gives the eyes a pop of color. For a more festive occasion colored mascara can be color blocked with colored eyeliner or a mascara of another color. Choose the colors that look good together and go easy on eyeshadow.
Try not to wear the same color eyeshadow as your colored mascara to avoid overdone look.
