Selena Gomez has to cancel two shows
planned for next week in Russia as the country will not allow her into the
country based on her support of gay rights.
Selena
had been scheduled to perform in St. Petersburg on September 23 and in Moscow
on September 25.
According to The Moscow Times,
''authorities in Russia have decided to make entry more difficult for foreign
performers following Madonna and Lady Gaga's open advocacy for LGBT equality in
the wake of that country's controversial law banning the promotion of
"nontraditional sexual relationships."
Lady Gaga slammed the Russian
government for what she described as its "criminal" stance on gay
citizens, and Madonna is currently being sued for her support of the LGBT
community.
Organizers have been forced to scrap
the Selena shows.
